A Crusaders' reserve team started life in the very first season of 2006. They played a handful of friendlies in the first two years before entering competitive rugby league under the guise of "Crusaders Colts" in the Co-operative Conference National. After finishing second in the final table, they won their way through to the Grand Final at Warrington Wolves' Halliwell Jones Stadium and were successful, beating Bramley Buffaloes 26-4.
When the Crusaders were given a Super League licence in 2009, the reserves were also promoted up to Super League Reserves and were successful in their first game, beating Leeds Rhinos 48-40. However as injuries took their toll in the first team, the fall-back affected the reserves and despite a number of creditable performances, they won just two more games.
Due to the club's recent relocation to Wrexham, we will not field a reserve team this year. We will however have strong links with the new club in South Wales where players will have the opportunity to be dual registered. It is expected that many of our reserves from 2009 will play for this club. For more details on them, please go to www.scorpionsrl.com
